"Perseverance and Progress"

A Message from the President

On behalf of the members of the East St. Louis Branch of the NAACP, I am pleased to welcome you to our website.  The vision of the East St. Louis Branch of the NAACP is to ensure a culture in which all individuals have equal rights and there is no racial hatred or racial discrimination.

In East St. Louis our principal objective is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of all persons. The East St. Louis Branch of the NAACP is part of the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. From the ballot box to the classroom, the membership of the East St. Louis Branch NAACP continues to fight for social and economic justice for all persons.

For those who love freedom and pursue justice, we need your time and talent because there is much to done. What started, nationally, as marches and demonstrations years ago, became legislative and legal reform in the recent past. Now, however, our task is to dismantle a much more subtle and insidious form of discrimination. A form which requires more complex and artful strategies, along with more sophisticated, experienced and dedicated civil rights advocates. If this Country is to fulfill its promise of equal opportunity for all of its citizens, your skills and talents are needed.

Martin Luther King once said: "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter"

Join the East St. Louis Branch of the NAACP and lend your voice to things that matter!
